Westerman – Nevermind

Westerman drops “Nevermind”, the third single from his upcoming album “A Jackal’s Wedding”, out November 7 via Partisan Records. Following “Adriatic” and “About Leaving”, the track shows a different side of the album with a stripped-back arrangement that prioritises lyrical precision over melodic density.

Will Westerman wrote the album in Athens before collaborating with producer Marta Salogni, who’s worked with Björk, The xx, and Sampha. They recorded over five weeks on the Greek island of Hydra at the Old Carpet Factory, a 17th century mansion converted into an arts space. The heat was intense and they only brought a drum machine, relying on the studio’s existing instruments.

“Nevermind” repeats its title nine times throughout but avoids feeling redundant. Westerman’s bassy vocals sit under a quiet arrangement heavy on reverb. He describes it as “a smirking, bitter little song ruminating on the denigration of meaning by bad agents.” The cryptic explanation matches the track’s mysterious quality.

“A Jackal’s Wedding” is Westerman’s third album, following 2023’s “An Inbuilt Fault” and 2020’s “Your Hero is Not Dead”. He’s mapped out an extensive tour across Europe and North America running from November through April, with support from Nation of Language, Laura Groves, and Otto Benson on different legs.
